In a way, I am quite glad that most of the world has agreed to the SD memory card standard – it just makes life a whole lot easier whenever you purchase one of these puppies, knowing that it is capable of being hooked up to a slew of different devices out there (unless you are talking about older generation Sony products, of course, that relies on nothing but their proprietary Memory Stick format). Well, over the years, the standard sized SD memory card just did not do, and we folks wanted something smaller – and hence heralded the birth of the microSD memory card which is as small, or even smaller for some of us, than the size of our fingernail. While this made it extremely easy to tote around, it was also equally easy to lose. Having said that, when it comes to memory cards, there are only a couple of ways to improve on them – that is, to make them larger in terms of capacity, or to increase their speed – or if the manufacturer chooses, do both simultaneously. This is what we will look at today, as Samsung has just announced their Ultra High Speed–1 (UHS-1) microSD memory card.
